Shropshire Intergroup

Shropshire IG  started out around 2002 when the groups in Telford and Shrewsbury split from the Welsh Borders IG. The Welsh Border IG at that time was well established and had held over 100 meetings. The main reason for the split being it was hard to get people to travel to Ludlow and spend a day at the Bishop Mascal Centre for the Intergroup meeting. Meetings are now held in the evenings and last about one and a half hours. The IG meeting venue is rotated every three months between St Nicholas Church, Shrewsbury, the Salvation Army Citadel in Oakengates, Telford and just recently the Baptist Church, High Town, Bridgnorth.

Meeting are held four times a year, normally on the second Tuesdays of  February, May, August, and November so that a report can be prepared in time for the regional meeting a couple of weeks later. Being on the Welsh border, Shropshire IG is part  of   Wales & Borders Region

Regional assembly's are also held every three months, on the first Sunday of  March, June, September and December. The meetings are held at the Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells, Powys, and last all day.

Whereas the IG meeting is the coming together for a business meeting of all the groups that form the Shropshire IG, the regional assembly is the coming together for a business meeting of all the IG's that belong to the region

Shropshire IG supports a one day convention that alternates every three years. This year  it is the 2nd year for the Telford groups to host the convention. It will return to Shrewsbury in 2013.
