WALLINGFORD Friday Bridge to Living (7.45 pm) Friends Meeting House, Castle Street, Wallingford, Oxon. Formed April 1998 The meeting was founded at Wallingford Community Hospital by five individuals who perceived the need to establish a meeting in this thriving market town. The meeting has gradually grown and blossomed into a strong branch of the Fellowship, with regular attendance by many ‘old timers’ as well as welcome contributions from many new members. The meeting name was established with the emphasis on recovery and a desire to encourage members as they progress along the bridge to living. The word ‘normal’ was omitted from the title because each alcoholic’s interpretation of ‘normal living’ would probably vary enormously. Significant refurbishment at the hospital disrupted the venue and it was decided in October 2000 to move to the St John’s Ambulance Hall in Station Road. All meetings are generally closed, although open meetings are held with the permission of Group members. The first Friday of each month is a Step Meeting, with the third Friday of the month following a general discussion format. Other meetings start with a share from an invited speaker.
