AA on the Fylde

The schedule of meetings for the Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre Intergroup of Alcoholics Anonymous
(Bispham, Blackpool, Cleveleys, Fleetwood, Kirkham, Lytham, Lytham St Annes, Poulton, Thornton and Wesham.)

Home >> Intergroup schedule

This intergroup is the means by which the individual groups combine their resources to carry the AA message to, and maintain good relations with, non-AA organizations in the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre area.

At intergroup meetings, representatives from the groups get together to discuss issues relating to AA in this area and organize services that are beyond the scope of individual groups.

These meetings are not open to the general public
If you are an AA member you are welcome to attend these meetings.

Theoretically, every group should have a Group Service Representative (GSR) whose role is to attend these meetings, and report back to the group about what went on. Minutes are distributed but minutes cannot tell the whole story. If a vote is taken at the meeting, the GSR casts the vote according to their group's conscience.

If the GSR cannot attend, the group can send another member to act as an alternative representative and so ensure that their views are taken into account.

If you are a new member and want to find out what it is like for yourself then it is suggested that you come with your group's GSR. Alternately to can come along on your own to check it out. A warm welcome is guaranteed.
