GUIDELINES for AA in Great Britain,

From the General Service Office, 10 Toft Green, York Y01 7NJ

INTERGROUPS Revised November 2006 No 4
AIMS
The aims of an Intergroup are to aid the
constituent Groups in their common purpose
of carrying the AA message to the still
suffering alcoholic and, by using their
combined strength and unity, to improve and
maintain good relations with all
organisations in the community. -----------

****************************************************

Examples of Intergroup "in action" is to maintain good relations with all organisations in the community and thus ‘Passing the Message’ by using the combined collective strength and unity of the Groups in their area by means of: PI – Public Information; Health; Prisons; Public Talks to Schools and other organisations; Probation; Managing the local Telephone Helpline; Updating and distributing Meeting lists, 12 Step lists, etc. All these Service Positions in the Intergroup are carried out by members of local Groups who attend and report to Intergroup. Our Guidelines give a full explanation of each Service Position and are free by applying to: AA, General Service Office, PO Box 1, 10 Toft Green, York. Groups within and with the knowledge of the local Intergroup can assist by distributing authorised Pamphlets to local Doctors Surgeries, Dentists, Churches etc. Group Service Representatives (GSR's) report to Intergroup on the progress of their respective Service positions and aldo report back to their own Group the activities and progress of the various Services and other items of interest. Intergroup Meetings can also advise as a collective Group Conscience with problems within a Group where guidance or advice is required. Note: Intergroup can only ADVISE on these matters. Ultimate responsibility is with the Group Conscience of that Group and by use of our Traditions and Guidelines. See below for future Lea Valley Intergroup Meetings.
